This is the first bit where I can go back and say that I began to consider landscaping as something that began to be important to me. Our yard was full of rocks. It was relatively low maintenance for the elderly woman who lived there for half a century before we did and when a young landscaper knocked on my door with an offer to get rid of all that rock, I jumped at the chance. He also dug up a huge root ball from giant oaks that were taken down and buried it in a whole that would have entombed a volkswagon beetle on the other side of the yard. Looking back… other than to level the lot, I have no idea why we bothered to do that.
